Installed a radio today. Originally bought a pioneer, but the directions were so poor, I couldn't get it to work. I'm no electronic wiz, but figured I could handle this. I called my dealer when I couldn't get the pioneer to work. He checked with LS, and called me back the same day. LS recommends Sony. Bought one, and it ended up being an easy install. Pull the roof to make it even easier. Thought i would post this to help others. Also, great service from my dealer (D & G equipment), and LS.

My 5030 came with a Sony. I wish it had Bluetooth.

Makes no difference what radio is recommended. Any radio of the proper physical size (that will fit in the space provided for a radio) will work. The radio will require a constant power source (to retain channel memories and clock functions), a switched power source wired to the ignition key, a chassis ground, 2 to 4 pairs of wires for speakers and an antenna. Most aftermarket radios come with a book with the wiring diagram or sometimes have the diagram affixed on the radio. It's then a simple matter of plugging the matching wires from the radio into the matching ports on the tractor factory radio harness. A simple volt / ohm meter from HF (at times meter is free with coupon) can locate the constant power, switched power, and ground wires on the plug. The speaker wires can be traced from the speakers back to the factory plug. The LS tractor cab roof doesn't need to be removed as it will hinge up by removing 4 nuts, unplugging the front cab lights and lifting up the roof for easy access to the compartment.

I was just saying that the sony came with much better directions, and was easy compared to Pioneer. I'm sure, anyone with experience could use anything.

My roof didn't seem to hinge. I removed three nuts on right side, and loosened 3 on left. Then propped right side with small piece of 2x4.

What if you just want to plug in a radio and spend the day doing something else you like. I would go with a Sony.

I guess it depends if you want to spend $400 plus for a factory radio with the matching plug or less than $100 for an aftermarket radio and wire it up yourself to the factory plug. Without knowing how the factory wired the radio plug you take a chance buying a radio with a plug hoping it mates and is wired the same as the factory plug. When I bought mine and asked about a radio I was told to order the factory radio or buy aftermarket and wire it up. In my case I went aftermarket, prewired the radio wires with male stakons, popped the roof, spend 20 minutes figuring out the wiring of the factory plug, installed the radio and closed the top. Maybe 1 1/2-2 hours tops.

There are 2 nuts behind the front cab lights and 1 nut on each side just above the door glass (4 total). Unplug the front cab lights and lift the roof from the front and prop a brace in there to hold it up. There is a factory metal brace in mine that is zip tied in place but I didn't use it. The roof hinges in back if you ever have to do it again.

If I could have found a Sony for under $100 with the plug that matched my tractor I'd have bought one. Just saying that when I looked for a radio for my cab no one except LS could guarantee that the plug on their radio would be a match for the LS plug and I wasn't going to pay the high LS price.
Radios, Rear cab lights, Rear window wipers, Rear beacon lights etc. are all LS options. Either the dealer had to order them with the tractor or dealer installed them.

I didn't buy the LS Sony. Just went and bought a Sony. The plugs did not match, but Sony had a good legend for which wire went where. Easy to use a test light, and splice it in. 100 buck investment. Works great
