LS 3XG3032
I have a XG 3032 that when it sits overnight the starter won't activate until I move the high medium low shifter backhand forth. After the first start of the day it works fine. It's been at a dealer for over a week and they have no idea. They say all the safety switches working properly and all the grounds are good. Anyone else have this problem or any ideas what to check out?

Doesn't it "have to be" that sensor on THAT shifter?? Just replace it..
It probably has some slight adjustment to it... I'd start w/ THAT..

It has to be that switch. It has become intermittent. It will probably get worse and worse until you can’t get it to start.
I’m thinking that it may have water in it and when it sits, the contacts corrode until you activate it several times.

There is no switch in speed range shift. They safety switch is on the forward reverse shifter.

I believe there are only four safety switches on that tractor; PTO, FNR Neutral Start, clutch pedal, and seat. I could be wrong, but don't see any others in the schematics for a shuttle shift model.

You are correct. It will only start if I jiggle high medium low shifter. That's what dont make since.

I would look closely at the linkage for the range selector. There could be (speculating) a wire for one of the start interlocks in proximity. There is intermittent contact which causes a short. Wire is loose and moves around (hence, jiggling lever affecting), giving the intermittent nature of the problem.

Fix could be as easy as repairing the wire rub through and tying the wire back so it does not make contact.

Good luck!

Is the HML shifter making contact with a safety switch wire? Most likely wires would be for the seat safety switch or the clutch pedal safety switch. Also, check operation of clutch pedal safety switch plunger (underneath left side foot/running board). Might be hanging up or out of alignment.

I looked at all of that and it is at a dealer and they tell me they have also checked all of that. After first start of day it works like it is supposed to. That's what is baffling.

This problem started shortly after purchasing and I called my dealer and he told me to clean paint off at grounds. I did that and it worked for a few months then it started again. I cleaned grounds again and it didnt help.

How about tracing grounds back to source and checking connections? And, did you apply some electrolube to the contact points to insure a good connection?

Almost sounds like a computer problem, but I'm not sure how much of a computer that model has. A flaky BCM on a car can do all sorts of things that don't make sense.

I will go over it again next week when I go pick it up.

That's what dealer thinks to but why would jiggling shifter make it start if computer issues

I may be wrong, but I don't think a shuttle shift has a gear position sensor on the HML shifter
so probably no connection to ECM.

I'll look when I get it back but dealer says it doesn't. Once it starts cranking it doesn't matter where that shifter is at.

Any update on your tractor's issue?

No I give up. We put a remote start switch in and no problem with it.

Glad you found a way around the problem. Not exactly the optimum choice, but better than not being able to use the tractor.

Yep I waited for more than a month for the dealer I bought it from to tell me he had computer back so he could work on it and got tired of waiting for them so I took it to a different dealer and they spent days trying to figure it out. So I was without a tractor for a total of almost 2 months. The main issue was it needed a crank sensor to get it out of limp mode. The start problem I've been getting around it for long time. My mistake was not getting it back to the dealer before warranty expired.
