Hi - I'm new to the forum having purchased an X738 in June. Just removed the 54" mowing deck, and attached the 47" snow blower. Unsure about the following and have gone through all the manuals and do not see this mentioned. I've also uploaded two photos which hopefully clarifies my confusion.

Attached are photos of the mower lift linkage in the down position, and then after I raise it. I need to install the mid pto shaft, but when the mower lift linkage is raised how do I either remove the shaft attached to the lift linkage, or how is it supposed to be positioned when in the raised position so it's not in the way of coupling the mid pto shaft? Thanks in advance for any assistance! Really pleased to see this site!

Doug

I'm also new to the forum and live in Larkspur (very near to the author above). I hope someone responds...anyone? I have the same problem - I just moved 2 feet of heavy snow with my X738 with the JD 54 inch blade because I realized (last minute) that the mid to front pto drive shaft I have for the 54 inch two stage snowblower does not connect to the pto. I have the same setup as above post. Took 4 hours to clear a very long driveway with spur to the barn. Can't believe the tractor handled it, but it did. I imagine you may have had the same experience because you were in the same snowstorm. Please let me know if you've figured it out.

Do you have the quick attach for the mower deck? If so, I believe you need to remove the quick attach on the tractor first and then connect the blower's PTO shaft to the PTO. Remember, when in doubt, always call your JD dealer and they will tell what you need to do.

as replied to the OP in his JD thread,
there are provisions to tuck the autoconnect carriage up against the frame, and to
rest the pto shaft up near the right side of the transmission which will allow the
front pto kit to be installed.
some are just removing the autoconnect assembly completely, just 4 pins, then it's out of
the way for sure.
