X738 float detent difficult to engage

New ball bearings are about $25. Just small parts for big fingers to assemble but cheap repair once you clean the parts up.

The small parts, old stiff fingers, aging eyes and valve mounted in awkward position all make a simple job more challenging.

I unscrewed the detent cover and very carefully pulled it back exposing the detent. The area was filled with grease and no evidence of rust or moisture intrusion so packed in a little more grease and put it back together. Still very stiff to operate so suspect this is a design issue on that valve or possibly some linkage issue but doubtful on that since operates very smooth and easy prior to engaging detent.
