X540 tail lights

Hi all,
has any one added tail lights to their X5** series of tractor? I never paid any attention during the summer but noticed today that there are no tail lights on these and when plowing snow in the dark by the county road tail lights would be nice.

Can I just tap into the head light circuit or will this over load the light switch circuit?

Should I use the head light switch to power a relay and then draw power direct from the battery through the relay and fuse assembly? Probably safest solution.

Also seems you would want flashers for anything near traffic at night... even then it is risky.

Tap in where you find power on when switch is on. If it is overload, will just blow the fuse and you can update from there with a second fuse and switch.

agree on the risk but I usually just turn around and clean the end of the drive at the county road. Problem is people don't slow down just cause they can't see through blowing snow so some lights would be better than nothing that I currently have.

I don't see any problem with just tapping into the headlight circuit.

If you get a set of trailer lights in LED from an auto parts store the current draw will be minimal and yes you can attach it to the headlights or use a relay and a switch if you don't want to always have the headlights on when using tail lights.

I just have to figure how to run the wires and keep them away from the tire chains and other moving parts.

Go to just about any bike shop and buy a clip-on-light. Clip it on your collar or back of your hat. This one is a 2 watt LED with adjustments for flash speed and brightness. And it is USB rechargeable.
