I have a X500 and it will do everything I ask it to do Just wish I would have gotten the x540 for the hydraulics. Is there a way that I can put hydraulics on the 500 without to many problems? :newhere::construction:

Most of these lawn tractors use a hydrostatic rear axle that provides the hydraulics so the cost of upgrading would be significant.

Unless you can find a donor tractor, it can't be done cheaply enough to be worthwhile.
At a minimum you need a new trans (it can be upgraded, but the list of parts is large and complicated), two hydraulic cylinders, hoses, clamps, new front steering spindles (not sure if that requires rims to be upgraded to 1"), deck arm, linkage to console. Probably looking at over $3.5K in parts. If you can't find a donor tractor, you are better off selling the X500 and buying a new or slightly used X540.

I don't miss hydraulics on my X500 since I only use it for mowing and the deck isn't difficult to lift manually. If you need a X540 then your best bet would be to trade-in your X500 for one rather than modify it. Talk to your JD dealer and see what kind of deal he will offer.
