This tractor is my size he said.
One of the big things i noticed about the x500 was the thickness of the blades. wont miss bending those cheap cub blades at all.

I am tentatively in the market for a new mower and the X500 is the best match for my old Deere mower (which is mostly OK but the deck is rotted out). I am having a hard time stomaching $5000-6000 for a riding mower. Pricing on these things is borderline nuts.

Over the line nuts. You could buy a lot of big box store mowers for that and may not need to if you take care of them and a can fix minor issues yourself.

I'm going to be mowing 3 acres, some steep hills. I blew the motor of a $1700 cub cadet in 3 seasons.
The hills will eat the big box tranny in short order, which may explain why the OP is going bigger. The 500 is the lowest dealer model with a serviceable transmission, why I went up from an x300 that was having issues on my big hills.

500 series will handle those hills like nothing. No comparison between a Cub ( MTD) big box lawn mower ( with crappy engine and weak tranny) and X500 with Kawasaki engine and K72 tranny. Congrats on new ride, should last you 20 years or more
