Would someone please tell me which Tufftorq rear transmission these 500 series tractors have. Are they K72s? I can't find any info on the Deere site. Thanks!

Just found the answer, Congrats on the purchase! I forgot to mention it earlier, but the X500 has a very robust transmission (TuffTorq/Kanzaki K72)

I think the limit of the lift (approx. 4") is limited to how much of an angle the belt can take before being thrown off not the hydraulic stroke.

The soft cab was changed a year or so ago to a full 4 sided enclosure with a hinged door. The previous model was 3 sided (open in the back) and you had to climb in under the side flap if I remember correctly. The new cab still takes some time to install however I wouldn't be without it. Here is a video of my X530 with the blower and cab.

Well i'm glad they improved the enclosure, I just wish they would give me half what i wasted on my 3-sided POC toward what you have.

I would hold the comparison of the turning radius suspect. Just to satisfy my curiosity I see that the x749 I have shows a 21" radius while the x748 shows a 25" radius. Both with the 48" decks which are the smallest available on these mowers. When I bought the x749 I remember that equipped with the widest deck a 62" it was listed with a 6" uncut radius.

So I would expect the 4ws mower to have a smaller turning radius than the 2ws mower. Using a wider deck can reduce the uncut radius but has no bearing on the mowers turning radius.

Actually, I could see how a 4ws might Actually have a larger turning radius than a regular steer simply because of how that is measured. I would even venture a guess that while the 4ws might have a larger turning radius, it might actually have a tighter OUTSIDE turning radius than the 2ws. Again, it's all about the pivot point.

Would the number 1 and number 3 signify a non 4 wheel steer?

To me that is like saying my car is 6' wide on the inside but is only 5' wide on the outside.

Years ago most people who wrote manuals or specifications were trained technical writers. Today with the tremendous increase in the printed word there are lots of people copying and posting without checking for clarity or accuracy. Hence the term "read it on the internet".

1 is the turning radius of the shown 4ws tractor. I'm not really sure what they are trying to show with 3 but it does look like possibly the outside radius of a 2ws.

I understand the confusion here, but it isn't just the width of the car that comes into play when discussing this. When you add steering to the rear wheels, the length of the tractor becomes less of a factor. Ever watch one of those old ladder trucks with the guy steering the back go around a corner? That will help visualize what I'm trying to say in a very exaggerated way.

OK, the number 3 circle would signify a X500(2 wheel steer) turning radius?
The number 1 circle would also signify the uncut radius of said X500?
