X485 Seat Safety Switch

For the longest time I've put a small wire between the ends of the seat safety switch to 'jump' it and allow the mower to stay running when I get off the seat.

However, there has been numerous times that i'd have to readjust the jumper to get it to work, pulling it out and replacing or bending it differently.

Today, I was reading online and found other users indicating that I could just cut off the switch, twist the wires together and it would work.

I tried that and NO SUCCESS. NOW I have no idea on what to do to resolve this situation. There were 2 red wires connected to one plug and a yellow wire connected. I've twisted it together in every combination that I can think of and no success.
"SHOULD" this be working and the all of the time the reasons it not starting been due to something else possibly??

If a jumper worked, then this should too. You mention 3 wires, can you describe how they went into the plug, and which 2 you jumpered before?

Both of the red wires were connected together into a flat metal connector type plug and the yellow wire into another flat metal connector type plug.
Both of these plugs were together in a plastic plug that would connect under the seat. I just put a small wire inside the plastic plug to jump across both of them.

Sorry my explanation is not very good. I'm having a really hard time explaining it.

Hopefully someone out here has a X485 like this.....

So, connecting all 3 wires together WILL work. There is no question of that. I would use a wire nut and tape, or solder them and tape.
There must be another issue causing you grief.

Did you just jam the bare ends of a wire into the connector? If so, it's easy to see why you would be having an issue.

It sounds like my 445 is wired similarly to your x485. I used male spade connectors to make a jumper and have never had a problem. There's no need to hack up the wiring. Plus, using a 'proper' jumper allows you to easily return your machine to original condition if needed.

I have red & pink wires on one side, yellow wire on the other. If you have all three connected together and are still having issues, your problem lies elsewhere.
