Friend has a 4 rotary cutter that he doesn't use any more since he went larger tractor than his old SCUT. I'm debating if the bush hog will save the mid mower wear and tear on the rough stuff I only occasionally knock down. I probably would hit it more often if cutting it was easier and I didn't destroy blades, spindles etc. The range of lift on limited Cat 1 3Pt is a concern. How unlevel, undulating, steep ground change will cause a problem? I have found a deal on the PTO parts that I need to get now or perhaps pay more later if I can't find a similar priced deal. Flail mower probably would work better than the rotary cutter but costs more. Cost is a factor.

Yes, I know a SCUT has more capability, but the X485 turns tighter and fits places the SCUT can't. I've test drove them and spending twice the money for a used SCUT is not an option.

I want the rear PTO .. but do I NEED the rear PTO:confused3:

Best, IMO, is to get it and know for certain how well it works for you.

But let us know how you like it..

NO experience with a 4' cutter on that size tractor, BUT is seems too big, it might be the tail wagging the dog. I would pass on rear PTO.
