x475 jd looking at buying it .

I am looking at a 2002 x475 jd with about 650hrs on it. when I started it up it started to idle very badly but at high speed ran very good,mowed with it ran it around their big yard for about 20 minutes,dealer said would fix all gauges,change oil&filters and clean carb.now he called me and said that while sitting in shop over night& started up in morning steam coming out of exhaust. putting new head gaskets on it now. my ? to all of you is would you still buy this tractor? also did a compression check,was ok.thanks a lot read these sites a lot JD50.

My dads x475 only has 300 hrs on it and it idles rough. It almost "lopes" up and down like the governor is holding it back. I'm sure the carb needs to be cleaned. Make them get it running better b4 u buy it!
