Why not send thru an established charity ...

I guess it makes sense to me to personalize things so if a someone here has someone there, then I can send a note saying "Dear, xxxxx, I know your dad from a tractor website and he gave me your name . . . " To me that is better than "dear soldier, you don't know me but . . . "

So if I can get a few names & addresses from folks then I will divide up what I have and send some to each. If I only get one name, that person will get it all. In any case, there will be personalized notes. And in every case, the people who get this stuff will know that some of us here really appreciate their actions and sacrifice.

God Bless you Bob,

If I'm not too late here is copy of this soilder's "Momma's" e-mail to me.

I'd already forgotten!! Thanks for the reminder! Put a note with it for him to share with all or whatever you want to say so he'll understand.

This young man's mother and dad worked many long hours for our church's program yesterday. Crowd was down from 2000 last year to 1700+ this year.
One of our preachers told me this morning that it seemed to her there were more who really were in need this year.

Happy Holidays, God Bless US All!

Bob,

I sent out a note to a group of people I know and saw far I only have one candidate but he is a contractor, exNavy doing anti Terror work. Maybe this morning I'll get more names. I'm suprised I only have this one guy from the group I sent the email.

If you don't have a person let me know and I'll send the info on the guy.

Later,
Dan

Here is what I will do.

At 8am Tuesday Dec 6 I will take all the names/address I have and divide up the stuff I have and send it to the people who's names/addresses I have been given.

Please, for anyone who has a name/address, either post it here, or send it to me via PM. But I will be addressing the boxes tomorrow morning to send them out so I'll need everything by 8am (central time) Tuesday.

Good work, Bob. Everyone I know with kids in the service say they are currently in the States. They also appreciate folks like you. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Gotrocks gave me the address for a soldier named John. I shipped him the packages and here is what I got in my email this morning.

I'd like to express my deepest thanks for the care packages that I received today from you and your company. What a surprise it was to find 5 large boxes of goodies when my Soldiers brought in the mail! It never ceases to amaze me when folks back home whom we’ve never even met are so kind as to send care packages, and we all appreciate it more than you know.

All red-blooded Americans love Girl Scout cookies, and my Soldiers and I are surely no exception. Please pass on our thanks as well to the Girl Scout troop that sent them to you. We are getting ready to do a lot of driving in the next few weeks as we prepare to come home after a long year here. We'll be leaning on that Red Man to keep us awake on the roads (although we best not tell our families that!).

I've included a picture of a few of my Soldiers with the boxes this afternoon as they were getting the first look at what you'd sent, and they send their thanks as well.

Please tell Elise and Emily Cole that I really appreciate the card that they colored for us. I wish my art skills were as good as theirs! We'll be sure to hang it up so all the guys are reminded about the folks back home.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas to you, your family, and to all your employees.

Respectfully,

John
