I made this short video of a WWII light Japanese bomber that was sunk in the Truk Lagoon, near Chuuk Island in the Federated States of Micronesia. I bumped into my wife Kathy Foulks on my way out. The US destroyed most of the Japanese 4th fleet in this Lagoon in February 1944.

Gunners have to be really fast to sink a tank. They don't float for long. :)

Navy was noted for cleaning up, eliminating clutter or replacing old, broken/worn equipment by pushing just about anything off the deck. tax payers $$$ so don't worry about it.

There are a whole lot of sunken tanks off the shore of the Normandy beachhead too. They didn't float well either, and they were designed to with the additions of a flotation skirt, and had auxiliary propellers. They were called DD (dual drive) tanks, ordinary Sherman's fitted with the Props and the Skirts, and waterproof sealing. But they didn't count on the cross currents, and waves that sank them and a lot of their crews. Only a few made it to shore.
