WR Long 3rd Function Kit solenoid is stuck on valve tube

Long story short, I had a switch failure on my WR Long 3rd Function Kit valve. I've ordered a new switch but I may have another potential problem. While troubleshooting the switch issue, I noticed that I could not remove the bottom solenoid from the valve tube. It appears to be stuck on the tube. The solenoid got very hot when i had the switch failure. I checked the solenoid and it tests good. I can manually actuate the valve. Any ideas on removing the stuck solenoid from the valve tube and why it is stuck?

If coil was on continuous it may have melted the coil causing it to swell. Other option is high pressure spike caused the tube to swell. My guess is coil got hot. Since coil is shot anyway carefully cut the coil off.

I there any chance that the solenoid coil may work even though it has swelled? The resistance checks the same as the solenoid coil that didn't get hot. They both check at 3.8 ohms. I will have a discussion with the vendor that I purchased it from as well.

You should be able to hear and feel the valve switching as the switch is cycled.

Like Lou said you should hear or feel the valve shift. If coil didn’t burn out it should work.
