Shane, the L3830 HST I have "reserved" is sitting in a shipping crate as well. It is a well built reusable looking crate made of steel. I have been asked why the L3830 and not go with the L4330. The L4330 has a larger capacity loader, a higher capacity pump, larger engine and bigger front axle all for about $1900 more. Believe me, I have tossed this around in my head many times. I think of the L3830 as more of a L3130 that has been to the gym. My intent was to purchase the L3130, several dealers mentioned that after using my L48, I might not be quite as happy with the power of the L3130. OK, I succomed to the advice, still not so sure its right, but anyway, it's a one shot deal, it added a little more to the price then the L4330 adds to the L3830. Perhaps thats because the L3830 actually is 2 models up from the L3130 with the L3430 in between. I could have had it this week but am in no hurry, Northern California is catching up on the rain, we've been getting dumped on. Hope you enjoy your tractor and the results as much as I do mine, Rat...

That wait can be a killer. When I ordered my M9000 last month the dealer thought that it was going to come in from out of state. I told him I needed it in three week at the latest because I had already traded in my old tractor. This was a huge mistake. Never tell a dealer anything but I need it ASAP!!! As it turns out he went and picked up one in a town about an hour and a half away. But since I had told him I didn't need it for three weeks he put it on the back burner and just went about other buissness. After about two weeks of trying to be patient I couldn’t stand it anymore and called the dealer to see how things were going. He let me know that it was there on the lot and he hadn’t had time to get the paperwork together yet but next Monday it would be at my farm. That afternoon I just happen to be in the area and finally got to test drive it. Then I saw the other dealers decal from the town up the interstate and asked the dealer about it. “Oh yes we were able to get this in state right after the deal but since you didn’t need it right away we brought it back here to go through and inspect ect.,“ . He was right I did say that but did I every regret those words. Waiting stinks. The consolation is the tractor is awesome and the dealer gave me a great price.

Good luck with that great machine. That backhoe sounds really fun.

RaT, I believe we both spent some countless hours in talking with dealers and researching this great web site before making a final decision. I even orderd the 3130 once but luckly the dealer could not get it until may and said if I bought it some were else he would be more than glad to service it. I too Loved the L 3130 but like you thought the more muscled L3830 would be better for my intended purpose which is backhoe/fel. thats not to say I won't be using it for alot of other purposes as well. My only concern was it too big for my place which is on a huge hill with a steep drive. (33 acres total mostly hill side with two long drives a commercial building with parking lot 3 different level flat spots of 2 to 4 acres each) I read on another post somewere that a person lost control over his 750 John deere on a slope. For me the L 4330 was stepping into the wrong direction since I was lokking at b7800.I see the 3830 has the same lift capacity as 4330 of course a little less on the pto pump. In the end I think everyone tries to second guess themselves, but Like I pointed out it was no Knee jerk decision. It seems once people get their tractors most are very pleased. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
