Would you spend the extra on 2660 vs 2360?

Newdeal,

Still thinking 2360 will meet your needs. There's an implement I've seen discussed on this forum that you can attach to your FEL to help dig holes for the trees you may plant in the future. Its essentially a spade that attaches with a chain for under $275. Looks pretty effective for occasional use...someone that wouldn't need a backoe.

According to Kubota, the gross engine output between the two is actually less than 2 HP.

"the dealer told me that the filter wasn't hanging down on the 2360 like it does on some other models...is that wrong?"
Honestly don't know, but just go back to the dealer and ask him to point out the HST fan and filter.

I might catch some flak for saying this, but I doubt you'll need the extra armor under the tractor, regardless of which you choose. According to the description you're giving about where it will be used, I think it would be exceptionally unlikely to work anything into the HST fan. Take a few extra minutes while your tractor is warming up and walk the area you'll be in before driving over it to scan for debris. The other side of the argument is the plate costs about $180, and your tractor costs $12 grand. Replacing the HST fan costs several hundred dollars plus time without your tractor...

newdeal,

when i got my bx2360, my dealer offered me a bx2660 for $100.00 less than the bx2360 . . . there may have been some sort of kubota push or promotion at the time (last summer).
i choose the bx2360 as my perception of the D902 diesel, was that it was a well tested motor (in other kubota models).
my bx has no problem in overly high uncut grass.
best of luck in your search.

You'll mostly notice the difference in engine HP when running a high demand PTO implement. I have a rear mount snowblower and while it works acceptably I do occasionally have to slow down to let the engine RPM catch up.
