I would like to start a thread similar to the one with pics of people towing stuff that looks unsafe, only this thread is for unsafe or downright dangerous trailers themselves. I got behind this trailer last week and got a picture of it with my phone from the cab of my truck. Sorry for the poor quality. Notice the right rear corner of the trailer is about 8" lower than the leftside. The right side drop down loading ramp is missing about 4 or 5 of the cross bars. There's a big gap in the boards so the small stuff can fall out at hwy speed and endanger other vehicles/drivers. It's hard to see it, but the main rail (channel iron) of the frame has a spot that is bent out about 2" just in front of the leftside tires. And then there are no fenders on it, not sure if required by law here or not? Left side taillight missing, and no working tail light on the right side, definitely required by law. This one was owned by a landscaping company. Would you have no problem hooking it up, and loading up, and taking off down the highway?

If you have any pic's of unsafe or dangerous trailers, let's see them!

Maybe he was towing it to the scrap yard.

I wouldn't tow it. But I don't like to be a DOT target. The ramps would not bother me, nor the holes in the deck, as long as the remaining deck is clean and structurally sound for the load it hauls. But lights, frame issues and no fenders are big issues for me.

My ranking:
- On the farm: no problem dragging it around until it broke.
- Personal use on road: I wouldn't tow it, but could understand people doing it on back roads.
- Commercial use: DOT would love that! Yay, hand me another ticket book!

I see worse than that everyday the scrappers pull right past the weight scales and a half a dozen Arkansas DOT's on I40 dragging a load of scrap across the bridge into Memphis to sell at the big yards by the river.

All the tires are standing square to the road it appears. I think with some deck and frame work, and adding a set of fenders, it would be fine. I'd give $50 for it if I wanted another project waiting to be worked on...

For me, I'd pull it. Doesn't look like a danger to anyone. For a Commercial Company, they might struggle with the law. But then,,,, I guess they don't struggle with the law or they wouldn't be using it. :)

What trailer do you pull??

I used a heavy duty car hauler of a friend to haul some scaffolding he let me use He offered the use of the trailer which was great. He said he hauled his cat on it a couple years ago so it was a beefy trailer, but my concern was the safety chains which heavy dog chains. I think I took a picture of it somewhere and I used what he offered and only had to go 4 miles so I chanced it.

Hey, why y'all making fun my trailer like dat.

No it's not really my trailer , but I would have no problem using it, and have used worse. No I wouldn't haul a skid-steer on it( actually if I had to I would) but it has it's uses. Doesn't have to be shiny and straight for me, as long as the frame and tires are good that's all that matters.
