Worthwhile Pursuit ?

Gas engine Satoh Bison with loader, hasn't run for about 4 years, but been in the barn, suspect overheated engine caused demise? Decent tin, Owner is talking about turning it into yard art. I am willing to offer $500 to keep it going as a tractor. Have some friends that could a use a small tractor on a small working farm, BUT, haven't a clue as to the engine origin. All original as far as I know. Any help on price or repair appreciated. SIDEY

While I'm no expert, it is my understanding that the engine is in all probility a Mitsubishi gas and since many parts seem interchangeable from some early ford rangers there might always be the possibility that a 'recycle yard' ranger engine might qualify as a 'drop in' replacement.
Surely other members have experience with any comatability issues and will sign in.

$500 is salvage price. It is a Mazda engine which wasn't used in much anything else. Carb may be dried out. Put some fresh gas in it & see it will fire.
