Yeah that JD is "stuck" alright.. More like "buried". How did you get that out?

Took a nice size excavator to get it out

Ditto, how did he get it out?

That deere thats burried isnt the same one that pulled out your dad is it? Your brother has some nice tractor(s)

Not the same tractor. Brother has several tractors, they blow quite a bit of straw and have blower tractors and shuttle tractors all ranging from 90hp to 200hp.

From the Deline NWT ice road this week. They had just lifted the load ban on the road that morning.

Holy cow. If that cab hadn't tipped a little it's easy to see how the ice could prevent either door from opening! Trapped as you sank! Can they have a roof escape hatch?

They said it happened just off shore, so he was lucky. Usually you have a few seconds to get out, but then you're soaking wet at -40 so....

That will make for a bad day for sure

How do they get that truck out?

They said they were pumping water around the truck to freeze it in solid. Then they brought another tanker in to transfer the cargo. Apparently one of the ways they do it, is to wait until summer and lift it out with a barge. However this is a really deep lake, so I'm thinking they will attempt to hoist it out before the ice thaws.

I bet it's summer before that truck driver gets his shorts clean again. That must be an incredible experience--to have the ice give way underneath you while hauling that much weight.

The article says they are building up the ice to support the weight of a crane to lift it out. I sure wouldn't want to be that operator!

I can't even imagine the bill for that!

I rode over a 2 1/2 ton fuel truck in a boat in the Moose river just a few miles from Saint James bay. The guy running the boat said it went down a few years before. I guess it was in 20 ft of water, don't know about the driver but it could not have been fun. Ed

I think this one takes the cake. Makes mine look like small potatoes.

I'm curious on fines as well. Not positive but an ice fisherman I know said anytime vehicles (Atvs snowmobiles cars etc) fall through the ice, there is a fee per day for the contaminants. I can't imagine a tanker lol just glad the driver is ok. I know it would of scared the pants off me.

It's hard to tell from this photo, but he road is the same width as my trailer. The road was soggy and gave out. The bad part, the direction I was driving was essentially an island with this makeshift road leading to it. (So I guess no longer an island). So there was no way to pull me out and the tractor was stuck on the trailer with no way to get it off. It's hard to tell from the photo but there is about a 2' drop off to even if I removed the ramps I wouldn't be able to drive the tractor off. Needless to say I said a few mommy daddy words.
