I am sorry to hear this. My own Patches is about the same age and getting stiff in the legs. I anticipate having the same same task ahead of me in the not too distant future.

Sorry for loss but is even worse when you run over your dog with the tractor as he is playing fetch with your kids. Lot of tears shed that day many years ago.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Deano. We lost our Lab 5 years ago...kidney failure. He was only 7, and we suspect was poisoned
. Became so weak he couldn't walk and we had to carry him into the Vet that one last time. It was as bad as Old Yeller. Your Shadow Pup will have a new bud named Raleigh to play with at his new home.

I am sorry to hear that your faithful companion has died. I dread the day when I too, have to bury my friend. Dogs are amazing animals, mine has gotten me through some very difficult times in my life- along with the support of my family.
Although we may never truly replace them, getting a new dog is the beginning of a new life's adventure.

A faithful dog truly is man's best friend. One of my thoughts to live by is:
"Never fall in love with something that can't love you back!" Our dogs are perhaps the best example of unconditional love here on this earth. It is not easy losing a companion who seems to live to be in your company.
When my Dad had to put his German Shorthair down, I passed along to him the story of Old Drum. It is a melancoly story about a faithful dog, that I think tells very well how a dog and man can bound.

We get so much love and delight from our beloved pets in life, and we grieve deeply for them when they die. Because of the unique enhancement they give to our lives they become a treasured part of us, forever. When a dear pet's life ends, more dies than just a cherished friend and companion. Since we make them into living symbols of our own innocence and purest feelings, a treasured secret part of each of us also dies. This can be reborn as we slowly pick up our shattered emotional pieces and move on. Our dear pets bless us, just as we do them, and they enrich and prepare us for our moving on in life. The loving memories become a permanent part of who we are, and they live on, in our hearts. Our continuing and improving lives can be our best memorials to them.

Sorry for you loss.....
I lost my white lab last february. My wife lost her dog last month.
Its been kind of quiet around the house. Wife has ben hinting about a
replacement. Claims she has no one to talk to now.

Dying is part of life for every living creature. And life is cruel at times. I have lost many best friends over the years. The only thing we can do is cherish the time we do get to spend with them.
The only thing harder for me then loosing a pet, is knowing how many pets get put down every year cause no one wanted them. I hope you find yourself a new friend and in turn save a dogs life. I wish you the best.
