My worst fear has come true. My wife is hogging the BX24! Between her mowing and moving mulch, dirt, etc, I almost never get to use it. We have had it a month now, and of the 63 hours on it, I'll bet she has put 50 of them on.

Paint it pink and buy yourself a bigger one :).

Welcome to TBN:D Good to have you!

Well, you really got a live one there!!! I suppose that if she ever learns about TBN that you'll have to start approving all the attachments, projects and devices she will learn about here:eek:

A very small price to pay to keep a woman happy.

My wife still refers to our 24 as my tractor, even though I keep telling her it's ours. She uses a an old Toro rider we have to move things around with the dump cart. She had driven the BX once, but that was about it.

Just make sure she is fully aware of the safety issues when using a rotary cutter!
They are not forgiving implements.

She did let me do the 50 hr service, although she was impatient. She is a pretty safe operator and knows her way around equipment pretty well. She takes the FEL and BH off to mow and usually puts them back on when done, "In case you want to use it".

Sounds like she probably doens't mind how you leave the toilet seat!

Was she raised on a farm?

Look, we all enjoy getting work done with these things, but I agree with Jay4200 - encourage her, let her get good (and safe), but later on come up with some chores requiring a machine an order of magnatude larger, say 35-40hp (side work? heavy digging?). Convince her you need both machines, then get a GEAR tractor in a color she doesn't like.

She wasn't raised on a farm, just in the country. I grew up farming and am always working on things, so being married to me for 15 years she has learned hr way around equipment.

Don't worry, I have a plan. In about a year I'll need a 40hp.......

Keep to the plan; no one in TBN land will tell . A lesson I learned very, very early- for #1 raise the toilet seat prior to use and lower it afterwards :D. Jay

This sounds serious and must not be allowed to get out of hand. Have you considered conveying a few subtle signals? For example:

- letting the air out of one tire ...
- not replenishing the fuel tank ...
- hiding the FEL ...
- removing the ignition key ...

Let her have it and get yourself a B series Kubota and a 2500 or 3000 series CC.

Why complain, sit by the pool with a beverage of choice and tell her how good a job she is doing. Mine 'directs' me on what she wants accomplished but has no desire to be a tractor operator. SHe even loans me out for mulch duty from time to time also.

You gotta love that. I agree with Jay. While you're getting a bigger one, get a new truck and trailer to haul it. If she complains, tell her it's her fault.

What an accomplishment. My wife loves to drive the tractor too, but since the bigger one arrived, she sticks to the little green one. Maybe a dozer or excavator acquisition could get you some more seat time.
