Was out working with dad clearing brush. He was on his MF and I have my Kubota.

Here is one of the small trees we dug up and pushed out of the way.

We had to get the small tree out of the way so we could get back to the next area to mow. There were a few trees we dug up back in that area also.

Part of the area we were mowing. I had a bucket full of debris moving out of the way.

It was a fun day with dad. Next weekend, we are planning on doing some tree trimming to open up some of the pathways.

Refreshing that you are able to work with your Dad. So many can't now and many wouldn't even if they could. Kudos!

It is a blessing to get to work with dad. Short version, for the last 7 years dad took care of my mom who was bedridden because of a stroke and also took care of his mother who was suffering for dementia. Over the last two years they both passed away. Now dad is able to enjoy life (not that he didn't enjoy taking care of mom and grandma, but that is different). So, we are trying to take advantage of every weekend we can get and enjoy life. We went to the NRA convention together and now working on the farm getting it cleaned up after years of neglect.

So, it has been a blessing for both of us and we have lots of work head of us.

Yes sir. I'm lucky to have a dad, who is 73, that still is very active and able to enjoy life.

I keep telling my dad to call me and I'll come help him with anything at all, but he sneaks out and does it himself. Last week, I was mowing my fields and heard that he lost the wheel off the back of his cutter while mowing his field. Looks like we'll have some welding to do. He turns 86 tomorrow (June 9th).

 that gives me hope (I'm 76) . . . good for him.

That is a sharp looking Massey too. He must really care for it. I assume it is a later production model as it looks like the radiator cap is below the hood. And his is the first 275 I have ever seen still with the alternator shield on it.

I bet your Dad enjoys the time as much as you do.

I'm happy for you... times like that are special, enjoy them while you can. My dad passed away a few months ago, and it's been a few years since we've had a good day of work together, due to his failing health.

The Old Massey had sit in the barn for the last several years. Dad had to drain the fuel tank, replace fuel line, and filters. After several hours of working on it, finally the old tractor came back to life. The power steering isn't working right, but overall the old tractor is ticking right along. Grandpa bought the tractor new and used it for years to plant the 80 acre farm and take care of the cattle and pigs. There are two more MF that he is working on bringing back to life, one being a 60s model gas MF (I think a 35HP) and the other diesel MF (I believe 285) with a front loader.

Weather permitting, we will be back at it next weekend trimming trees. It is exciting for both us. Thanks for all the wonderful comments.

You are the kind of son every father should have. Enjoy your time together.

Thanks for the thread. I love the old Masseys. My son and I are going to look at a 285 with loader today. It's owned by a Village and being sold sealed bid.

I'm very blessed to get to spend time with my Sons.

Hope your Dad has many good years ahead. He deserves them.

Dad headed for the tall grass when I was just a kid, but my father in law was like a father to me. We cleared land, planted CRP, reforested over sixty acres. He loved wildflowers, so we planted about six acres along the road My sons began working with us when they were olld enough and helped plant even more trees.

He passed away January 2000, behind the wheel of his tractor.

I'm fortunate to have all our kids close. My wife fixes Sunday dinner for anyone who drops in. My wife comes from a really close knit family and I sure have adapted to it.

Addendum: I remember going to my in laws one day and my father in law had just turned fifty. He got a funny look on his face and said, "My life is half over. I didn't see the alarm, it seemed pretty old to me too...my son's birthday is July 4th; yep he'll be fifty.
