Mahindra 5530
Here is a photo my wife took of our daughter and I attempting to disc the garden with our new 5530. This was taken this spring, just getting around to posting! Hope you like.

Great looking Mahindra! Thanks for sharing. Maybe your daughter will grow up with the "tractor-itis" that so many of us share on the forum. I am sure you already have it. It's contagious.

Children do not belong on a tractor while doing field work. I don't see a seat belt on either of you. Take her fishing to spend quality time, not on a tractor. Read the Safety page for countless sad stories. You can go from "this won't happen to me" to "how was I so stupid" in a second.

Sorry, but I disagree....I don't use the seat belt...(its still buckled under the seat since 2003). Also without the ROPS up in the pic, the seatbelt will just hold you in the right position to crush you really good...(but I'm sure you also noticed that). My first recollection of anything in my life was when I was about 3 years old sitting on my father's lap on a 1950 Ford 8N "steering" the tractor as Dad plowed the garden..yeah, it may have been "dangerous", but I loved it and wouldn't have changed a thing...I'm sure his daughter will remember it as well...I'm pretty sure he has an eye on her constantly...I will say from the looks of the dirt/ground, it was a tad too wet to be disking...BobG in VA

When I first saw the picture I thought ... OMG someone is going to be on him like white on rice about that girl on that tractor ... Just didn't think it would happen so fast.

I recall days as a youngin standing up on the H and M Farmall while dad was at the wheel... ya know she could drown fishing.

Agreed

Danger is present in everything we do. And we all think it will not happen to me.
Therefore a little caution and maybe a lower gear can make a wonderful father child experience.
I know there were many things my dad and I did when I was growing up that were dangerous but experiences make us who we are and give us memories that we would not trade for the world.

We should all remember to think about what we are doing and enjoy every minute with our families while we can.

2 pennies worth I guess:)

I know even the oldest and most experienced can suffer an accident ... seems as if the new to tractor operations and farm work are more prone.

I'd bet your correct and in this case dad was slowed down and thinking about her safety and the picture was probably taken when the tractor came to rest and the little girl "pleased" the camera!
