Wops, I\'m an idiot too.

Part of my daily routine is reading TBN. And there are lots of days that I think to myself "What and idiot, I can't believe he/she did that". /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Last sunday I was using the tractor and went to pick up a dead dear with the loader and move to the back part of the property (my dogs were starting to get to curious and the wife said to get rid of it). There was brush all around the dear and I figured just knock it down, pick up the dear with the loader and away we go. As I was knocking down the brush I noticed antifreeze spraying all over. Turned off the tractor and noticed that the water valve (antifreeze drain plug) was snapped in half. So of course I thought to my self "What and idiot, I can't believe I did that". /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif On monday I went to shop and got another one and replaced it. So tonight is round 2. Lets see If I can get to DEAR.

Re: Wops, I\'m an idiot too.

I don't call people who use their equipment and find out that something breaks because they used it, idiots. Nor do I call myself an idiot if something breaks while using my equipment. I do try to learn from the experience, and often wish I hadn't done what I was doing. So go easy on yourself and others (I also don't blame the dealer for my error, and expect him to make it right).

I suspect moving the deer to another part of your property will not keep your dogs out of it. They have pretty good sniffers and find that dead stuff no matter where it is.

You’re not an idiot. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You are now an experienced tractor operator. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Glad no major damage was done. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Like the other fellows say. Your not an Idiot. If you were we would now be listening to a sad tale of a seized motor.

That's what I get when I try to post and do my job at the same time!!!! Just can't get enough of TBN.

OK maybe IDIOT is too strong of a word. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone. It was posted in humor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's good to share your mistakes.

I think you WOULD HAVE BEEN an idiot if you didn't notice the anitfreeze pouring out.. and then chunked your engine from overheating it.

See.. it always can be worse!

Re: Wops, I\'m an idiot too.

Maybe TBN could have a "Things I wouldn't do again" or "Boy did I screw up". One of the things that first came to mind when I started reading this was something that I "learned" while my tractor, CC 7234, was fairly new. I was pushing and moving a bunch of old pine branches and debris left from some trees I had taken down. I decided when I got the tractor that I would work it and not baby it to much. Well after a while my loader wasn't working very well and I finally had to quit some of my bulldozing to check out the tractor and call the dealer. I couldn't find anything obvious, the Hyd. Fluid was up, no leaks. A call to the dealer didn't help much either. I then went out and started poking around more and found one of the Loader Hyd. hoses quick disconnect had partially slipped apart. I have a Bush Hog loader the dealer installed and the excess hose is coiled on the right side of and below the engine area. The only thing I could figure was that some of the brush/branches I was driving over and pushing out of the way had come in contact with the Hyd. lines. Needless to say I learned to check the connections better and oh by the way, I have never had the problem since.

Thanks for sharing.

As I was moving the deer last night I decided to dig a 3 ft hole and bury it. I hope that will be deep enough to fool their sniffers. Well the truth is I wanted some more seat time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I was pretty surprised how easily it dug into the frozen ground. When I got back to the house I looked back and saw that one of the wheels on the rear finish mower was missing. (Don't worry I contained myself and did not call myself an idiot) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif So I went back and their is was laying on the ground. I found all the spacers too. Just couldn't find the pin. It was getting dark, so I guess I will look tonight. Probably will have to buy another one. What a week. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Oh well I guess it could be worse
