I recently bought a BXM32 chipper/shredder and run it with my BX24 and I'm pretty happy with the combination. It only gets bogged down with really solid and long limbs at 3+ inches in diameter if they feed too fast. As long the get fed in slowly so the rpm on the flywheel doesn't drop too much they do OK.
Some of the real branchy and twiggy stuff like the oak can get bound up in the chipper chute, so it helps to lop off some of the side branches. Also the right mix of some thicker branches to help pull the twigs through helps.
I've been mostly catching up on slash from the summer, so I've had some fairly dry stuff to chip and shred. I think once I'm caught up and I'm doing mostly green branches they will feed more easily.
Having the shredder is really nice for the smaller leaves and twigs, it just eats anything less that an inch or so, plus it does a really good shredding for the compost pile.
I bought mine from Woodward Crossings, their price was better that what I could find locally in CA and shipping was cheaper than CA sales tax.
