Woods Blade feedback.

I have a NH T1110 that I plan to do some light dirt work and gravel driveway grading. I was looking at the Woods RBS60 blade for this work. Anybody have a Woods Blade? any feedback?

For grading it's difficult with a 3 point hitch blade if that's what you have in mind. Back blading with a full bucket to get fairly level then going over it in float at a moderate speed with a full bucket. The angle of the bucket will determine the end result.

I have Woods RB72 15+ years. done lot grading snow plowing etc. etc. even tangle with metal mailbox post trees no damage to Woods indeed just wish I had gotten offset Woods blade at the time.

You move snow with that blade? How does it work for you? I had a rear blade but found it was not handy for snow; or I did not know how to use it for that....

I grew up not far from the Woods Headquarters and dad had a rotary mower of theirs that took a beating on the farm.....

With the limited info as to your goals I would say this, look on facebook or Craig's List and buy a used one for a lot less money.

If I needed to keep up a driveway and other dirtwork I would buy a boxblade instead of a scraper blade. But if my needs dictated a scraper blade I would look for one that is adjustable.

I have an 84 inch woods blade it has worked well for grading our part of a mile long gravel road. I think it works great for plowing snow, angle it to the side you want the snow to go and move as fast as you can. It throws the snow out the end , Been doing it that way for 30 yrs. Make sure the blade will angle both ways.

I have a 1/3 mile lane/driveway to maintain along with the sharing neighbor. I thought the box blade would do it. I learned that for maintaining the crown the rear blade is best, and even better with a hydraulic cylinder on one lift arm. It's also good for snow. The box blade is good for grading and with the hydraulic cylinder on one lift arm it's OK for maintaining the crown and filling potholes.

I got my 6' Kodiak Paladin rear blade from my local Kioti dealer. It offsets and is reversible and was a good price. I tried to find a used one but there were few available and they were clapped-out crap.

For a rear blade to be efficient it needs to be heavy and adjustable. If you have that you can do a good job from pulling ditches to crowning a road. So with that you need a strong tractor. If you don't have either and have a smaller tractor I would suggest a pull box blade to pull dirt and level.

Your plan will do some VERY light dirt work & gravel driveway grading.
The blade weighs 150 lbs. and the tractor is 1500 lbs.
That setup would be great for moving 4 inches of snow.

I have to agree. I run a Bushog 60" rear blade on my JD 870. It has about the same HP as yours, but weighs nearly twice as much. My blade weighs three times as much as the one you are looking at.

I find I have plenty of HP, but the blade will only cut into the gravel drive when the drive is pretty damp. That's fine, because that's when it packs back down well. And with a little practice a back blade does a great job in maintaining a driveway. But my blade is three times as heavy, so I'd worry about the lighter blade doing the job.

I can plow 6 to 8" of snow with my setup quite well, but with anything beyond that the blade wants to steer the tractor. This winter I spent 20 minutes prying the tractor back out of the ditch after the blade decided that's the way we should go. I think you can expect a lot less from a tractor that weighs half as much.

I push with the bucket while the rear blade set 45 degrees,I don't push with rear because no trip springs on blade...
About 8" or more snow temps are low pickup with plow.

Thanks for all the replies so far. As a couple of you have noted this tractor is quite lightweight and so is the blade I picked. Tractor weight (minus the loader and MMM) is around 1500, and the RBS60 blade is quite light at 160ish pounds. Is 60" blade right sized for a 28 flywheel HP tractor, or should I go up to a 72"? I have a front mount blower that works very well, and the only snow removal I would do with the blade is to back up to the garage/shed and drag it away for easier blowing. Width to the outside of the rear tires is right at 50".

As far as buying a used one, the new 60" woods blade is ~600 and the used ones I'm finding locally are $400 or so. My local Case IH dealer is 5 miles away and would deliver.

Either size will work good behind the blower. Just don't forget how far back they are when operating around obstacles. That is why I quit using like that. I never hit anything but I had some close calls.

When I had a jd 2305 I pulled a 60" blade behind a 49" blower to scrape the packed down snow off the concrete that had been driven on by cars. It worked great for that. But the blade stuck out behind the tractor and I needed to be extra careful with it. That took all the fun out of the job.

I bought a RB72p blade last week and was able to spend about 4 hrs working my driveway this weekend. I’m glad I got the 72” for the application. I was easily able to pull the 72” blade full of gravel in the straight and angled positions in 2wd.

I found this new 2019 blade at a dealer that used to sell Massey tractors, but had stopped, and they held the 2019 pricing and threw in the parking stand.

Once you get the driveway in the shape you want,turn blade 180 degrees for the finishing touches.
