Does anyone know the weight of the Woods BX80-X backhoe? I can't find it anywhere in the Woods literature.

Are you thinking of one of these bad boys for your L3400? I've been eyeing it also. I want to make darn sure that I want to hang on to my L3400 for along time before I take the plunge though.

I don't know the weight but everyone that has a L3400 and the BH80-X here seems quite happy with it.

Get the subframe if you do get it though.

I already bought and installed one about a month ago, with subframe... I love it! The reason I was wondering about the weight is that the backhoe seems to be a good ballast weight for using the WR Long bolt on bucket grapple that I installed, so I want to make a ballast that is about the same weight for when I have the backhoe off. I have a nice 30 gallon plastic drum that I was going to fill with concrete, but it will only give me about 600 - 650 lbs., and I'm not sure if that will be enough... I think I will look for a 55 gal. drum instead.

Thanks for the answer! If I use a 55 gal drum I should be able to put a few cavities for tools, chain, etc. and still get around 900 lbs... that should be just about right.

850lb pretty sure; the 70X weighs only 50lbs less.

I'll bet that is w/o the bucket. I would guess its a little over 1000lbs with bucket. I downloaded the manual and even it didn't include the weight. Most competing hoes of that size weigh about 1000+lbs with a standard 16-18" bucket. Does your loader manual give a recommended ballast? Some do. Having the grapple won't increase the load carried, though it might increase the chance of an off-centered load.

I'm not sure of the weight but would estimate closer to 1000lb than 850. I have the BH90X on my Kioti DK40se. It is heavy enough that the front end feels much lighter than with just a mower. I'll end up adding some front weight in addition to the FEL just to make it balance better. The Kioti is heavier I think than the 3400 so I would advise thinking about the weight balance issue issue with the 80X too.

By the way, I love the BH. I'm thinking of getting a ripper tooth fabricated to make smaller stump removal faster and less destructive.

That's a nice new DK40 you have there Island. Did you keep the CK20 too?

Wish I could have but I needed to trade it in on the new one. It was a great tractor though.

I know 830lbs is real good on the back of my L2800 for ballast.
