i have a old vickers vane pump maybe from a 977 cat a 1960 to 1975 time period i can not read tag id number it is square 6 in long by 5 in one side and 5 in other side currently on a 35 hp wood splitter running 3600 rpm pump was set up to run 1200 rpm by previos installer i wish to speed up push rod can i run this pump at 3600 rpm without tearing it up pressure is currently only 800 psi

The pump is designed at certain pressure rating, and at 1200 rpm, you should have pump pressure, and rpm isn't going to change that. Rpm dictates how many GPM will flow.

The pressure is related to the resistance of the cyl, and your valve will relieve at the set pressure.

If you are saying that the pump can't develop any more that that, then that is all you have.

Install a pressure gage in the system, and a flow meter if available.

Pump rpm is limited on some pumps due to seals and bearings, but, if it was designed to run at 3600 rpm, and you are now have only 800 psi, your pump might be worn out.

This Vickers vane pump is designed at 2200 psi, at 2400 rpm.
