I have a water cooled Kawasaki engine. Original oil filter part number is KM-49065-2078. WIX replacement part number is 51394.

The old filter had a visible spring at the botton of the filter. The WIX filter does not. WIX states that their filter has a by-pass valve.

Is the visible spring the by-pass valve? If so, then where is the valve on the WIX filter?

Thanks to all who can help.

Some filters bypass valves are closer to the threaded end. The spring-in-the-bottom is just one style of bypass valve.

Thanks for the info. Sorry for the belated thanks.

Went back to the WIX page and took another look. You are indead correct. I was feeling as if I had make a mistake purchasing the WIX filters. Feeling much better now, expecially since I went back to my dealer and he is carrying no-name filters instead of the mfg suggested ones.
