JD 850
I will soon be parking my JD 850 for the winter. Previously I took out the battery and paid no attention to the fuel. Had a few problems with fuel this year though and want to avoid it in the future.

1.Should the tank be full?
2.Should I add anything like one does for gasoline?
3.Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Although allot of opinions may differ I have always drained all the fuel out of equipment and run them dry. In the spring I refill with fresh and once I have fuel I have fire.

I routinely fill the fuel tanks with stabilized fuel to prevent the accumulation of condensation, even if the equipment is stored indoors;even more important if stored outdoors. There are stabilizers designed especially for diesel, but I use my tractor for snow removal, so that is not an issue for me

How do you clear snow.
I add 3 ounces of Power Service from the white bottle to 5 gallon of diesel the year around. .

Pour some Power Service from the white bottle in the tank, (it specifically has anti-gel properties), and you'll be fine for the winter. If the tractor isn't going to be used at all then it wouldn't hurt to fill the tank full with fresh fuel, but if you plan on using it every few weeks, then I wouldn't worry about it.

If it wasn't obvious, run the treated fuel for 20 minutes to get it circulated throughout the system. Stabil in gas engines ditto. With the ethanol used these days, it is doubly important in gas engines. Don't forget the weed string trimmers, chain saws, and such.

Like the white bottle for diesel.

1. Yes, tank should be full to prevent rust in tank.
2. Yes, add stabilizer/anti-gel (as previously suggested - powerservice white)
3. Yes, build a heated garage and keep your tractor tucked away in one corner (it'll be BIG).
