Bought L4150 about 3 weeks ago. As usual; never sure what I got till I get it home and work with it for awhile. Really like it a lot. So now I am in process of cleaning this thing up.
The sheet metal is straight and pretty rust free but it has 20 years of paint fade. Looks like the tractor was too close to someone spray painting with black paint. It has a lots of tiny black specs all over it.
Not planning to paint anything or replace any decals. Just use cleaning solvents and rubbing compound. Lots of elbow grease. Not looking for perfect here. It is a working tractor. But always easier to maintain and see issues with clean tractor.
Anyway, thought I would document progress here. I am always open to suggestions.
Was trying to figure out what to do with the decals. Some are really faded and cracked. Used rubbing compound on them and got some of the dirt and grime off but they still looked dull. On another tractor site someone suggested rubbing axle grease on decals! That did the trick. Brought back the original colors to the decals.
