We have a saying here in Nebraska. "It is a darn poor July that doesn't get rid of the snow". /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

( If winter is over then I wonder what the white stuff is pilled up on my lawn? I am planning in leaving my snow blower on until June! )

Anything after 2/28 can't be winter-It's just a spring fling.

When I lived in the snow belt south of Buffalo, NY, we too had a saying. "The only months you shouldn't see snow on the ground are those with a 'S' in the name of the month".

The worst I ever saw, we still had naturally made (no piling with tractors or otherwise) snow still 4 feet tall (from places there were deep drifts that winter) on the 4th of July (Blizzard of '77).

It's been a very mild, manageable winter here in northern Michigan, 110" of snow so far. Most of our snow went to the northeast so the boys and their toys on the coast could get some exercise. As for converting to mowing mode, I'll still wait until the grass starts to grow. Happens long about mid May....... . /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You may have an early bird but there are just as many robins around our place as there has been all winter. They don't seem to be ready to move north.

YOU CALL THAT SNOW? SEE MY PICS FROM A FEW WEEKS BACK.HAD ANOTHER BIG STORM SINCE.THE SNOW BANKS ARE SO HIGH I CANT BUCKET IT ANY HIGHER,MY HOE DRAGS ON THE GROUND IM AT SUCH AN INCLINE.THE DRIVE IS CREEPING IN ON ME.WE WILL HAVE SNOW WELL INTO THE END OF APRIL,FROST INTO MAY,mud into june.you have lots of seat time year round here.before you call a real estate agent, let me tell you,its winter here from November tilmid april. 2.5 months of thisyou rarely go above freezing, and for many weeks the nights are well below zero..in june the black flys are so thick you want to add an oil drip to your bota exhaust to smoke em out. CHANGE YOUR MIND yet? i envy all you folks mowing your lawns.

I just saw your pic escavader and "I" envy you. If you looked at my thread: How to push a BX23 to the limit, you'll understand my point. Where I am we had a very little winter with few inches of snow. Oh god, I would have liked to be your neighbour this winter. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Even if I like snow, I'm happy to put back on my back hoe when spring arrives and dig wherever I need and whenever I want. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The snowblower is powerwashed and lubed, ready for the next snow event this december! Tomorrow i will attach the fel and the core aerator. It's 47 her'e today and the existing snow cover is about 50 % gone. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You are pushing your luck and throwing mud in the face of Mother Nature. I can remember snow in Late April so I think that you might get the snowblower dirty again. Let it not be said that I am a skeptic, however, I know better than to tempt Mother Nature with early preparations for spring............. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey there junk, trust me when i tell you i hav'e all the respect in the world for mother nature! a few years back i made the mistake of burying all the snow equipment in the rear of the shop! We got slammed with a foot of snow on april 1st and had to move 22 pallets of lime & fert. to get to the plows, etc. I now keep the snow gear accessable until june! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I tried to warn him, but you know how some kids take warnings such as this. My MMM always leaves a nice clean finish on top of the freshly fallen snow - @ 4 inches and counting as of 6 AM - doh! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

May need to put off that MMM attachment a little longer, eh? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Cheers,

Dan
