Winter Cab-Homemade

Here are some pictures of the winter cab I built this fall, Its made from 1X3 pine, 3/4" plywood roof all held together by pocket screws.
1/4" plexiglass for the windsheild, 1/8" plexiglass for the rest of the windows. Used 1/2" and 3/4" split pipe insulation to fill in any gaps.

Nice job on your cab. Fabricating one yourself is a huge money savings. I made one for my Kubota for about $300 and I was finally dry using the snowblower last winter.

Fabrication looks OK, but your unit is lacking one essential feature - a windshield wiper. Without that you will have to keep jumping out of the rig to clear ice, snow and slush off the front glass. The will get to be tedious after a short while. Also you will need some sort defroster and heater to keep the inside from fogging up. Do you plan to, or do you have these units?

Great job. In case you don't know A good coat of quality car wax on the plexiglass will help a lot from scratching and repel water

An 12v wiper motor for the older jeeps with the old vac style wipers would be easy to install

Agreed, a wiper is nice but RainX is almost as nice. I have used the wipers on my truck only one or two times in the past year. Once, I drove 950 miles through multiple rainstorms and never turned them on. Some people have to have wipers and some get by with RainX.
