i do believe the wind blew harder here tuesday than it ever has: blew off about a dozen shingles from the house, some from the garage, a storage building and the well house: even blew half the roof off a Martin house.
i made a quick trip to lowes and glued em back on the house, but didn't get to the other buildings, and with the weather we have now, i guess it will be a day or two before i do. i called the insurance co this morning, i doubt they will do anything, since i have the roof "sorta" fixed now, but i don't think that roofing cement should be considered a permanent repair..at least it will hold till things slow down in the roofing industry here and i can do a little shoppin for a roofer. folks were lined up at lowes buying shingles...

One of the local banks has a weather station on top of the building, they recorded a gust yesterday of 93mph.

You didn't slow it down much Heehaw. Gusts in excess of 50mph at West Plains, MO. Blew some roofs off and lots of shingles too.

I know we had gusts as high as 52 and have heard it was over 60 some places. My wife mentioned seeing some shingles in the street down the block but I don't know where they came from. The bigger news was the grass fires that got out of control, burned off lots of acres, and a few homes even. And while we didn't actually see any fires here at home, we could sure see and smell the smoke.

had fires up at the old Army base, Ft Chaffee: burned a bunch of buildings: they were the old wwII barracks that needed to be torn down, but couldn't because of asbestos, or so the rumor went.

I went out yesterday morning half asleep to feed stock and saw my ol' Lawnboy sitting out in the rain, grumbled about one of the kids leaving it outside before I realized it was sitting on the slab where my 8x10 garden shed used to be. I made a 1/2 mile through the woods to the east and I still ain't found my tin shed but did find a trampoline that I'd never seen before.

There's trouble in Paradise...
The fires in Paradise, TX were all around the place where Kathy and I got married. As far as I know, the building did not sustain any damage.

if you were west of me i'd look around for your shed: going thru town, Russellville, there are shingles laying on the highway about every where you go. i kept watching for house with architectual shingles, because thats what i am considering, then i found one and someone was up on their roof working too: kinda makes me lean back towards metal.

What, were the politicians in town for a debate?
