windows 10

I'll wait a while before jumping in, but will eventually need to upgrade our close to 200 Win7 machines here at work when MS support ends. There was no way any of these machines was going to see Win8 on my watch. What I've read so far on Win10 has been positive.

I upgraded both of my virtual Windows8.1 machines, which run under Parallels on an Apple Mac Mini and a Macbook Air, this morning. Took about 30 minutes each. I had been running the Windows10 Preview, so I knew what to expect. Everything is running fine.

You guys kill me...Windows 8/8.1 was awesome...if you had a TOUCH device (tablet, etc.). I didn't mind it at all. I beta'd 10 and have it on 3 machines here at the house, with 3 more to go in a couple of weeks. No issues in the 2 months of beta testing and none since official roll-out.

I stopped by Best Buy just to look this morning; sure do like what I saw. I could download the update for this computer, and guess that'd be the more sensible thing to do, but I'd rather get a new computer with a touch screen. Have to think about it awhile, or at least a few minutes.

Why not just buy a nice touch monitor and connect to the existing system and do the upgrade?

I don't have room on this desk to add anything without getting rid of something else.

My old notebook with Windows 7 on it died and I replaced it with a notebook loaded with 8.1 that I hated. In the effort to produce an operating system that would be viable on any platform, they created something that was miserable to look at on all platforms and worthless if you didn't have a touch screen. I configured it to appear as much as possible like 7.

I loaded 10 this week without a hitch. It added some "apps" (oh, how I hate that pseudo-word) that I didn't want and thus some stuff got binned immediately. The return of the start page is nice and the way it allows you to look at pictures is vastly better. I have no use for "cloud" and haven't decided how much I'm going to let it communicate with my Android devices if at all. If that kind of interface appeals to you and every device you use has a touch screen, I think you'll like 10.

I installed it on my Windows 7 laptop yesterday. I never tried Windows 8 or 8.1, but so far it seems good. Laptop seems to be a little snappier, install went without a hitch. No regrets on upgrading, would do it again but have not had a lot of time with it.

Same here but on a PC, I like the start menu like on XP but with additional features. Also it turns on/off faster than on Win7. Very happy so far

All right I was going to wait, but now just might start the uograde. I can't stand all these good reports.

I have a desktop with XP, a laptop with 7, and a tablet with 8.1. The laptop with Windows 7 is by far the most annoying. I actually prefer the touchscreen functionality of the tablet the most.

OK, I caved in when I got home I upgraded my laptop. I am using it now. So far so good. It took a bit over an hour.
