Winch use

I have a winch coming for my XUV. Where I use the XUV there will be a good chance that I will not have anything handy to hook onto. I cross a lot of open fields. Is there a device I can use with the winch that might be able to hook into the ground or snow that I can pull against?

Dick Cepec used to have a devise that one had to bury sort of like an anchor, so you still need a shovel, but it works in sand, dirt, etc.

I bought an anchor to use with an atv winch several years ago, and never used it. It is basically a mobile home tie down with some square tubing on top so you can twist it in the ground. I think I bought it from Cabela's.
If you do find a tree, an extra tow strap will give you some more lenght and you will need a clevis and tree strap. I have seen people run the cable around the tree and hook back to the cable. This will ruin your cable pretty quick. JC

I searched google and find one product called Pull-Pal. They have a model for ATVs that should work with utility vehicles. Will do some additional searching.

i use a moble home tie down anchor the kind you have st screw into the ground that is about 3 feet long. i also carry about 100' of rope plus 2 14' tow strapsand i got 50' of cable on my winch so i can reach out to a tree or pulling abject atleast 175' away when i'm stuck and i been wanting to add another 100' to the rope.and all this winch talk reminds me i need to chang my winch cable i think it's about time it's three years old and in good shape but i think i would feel better if i had new cable.
