Will it be too slow? Anyone have a splitter running off the remotes? I'm wondering if i'm further ahead to power it off a pto pump. thanks

I run one off the remotes works great, I think. Never really used one with its own motor, but seems to go fast enough for me. A pile of wood a waits the kioti to return this week. Will try to post a vid once I get it back.

I ran one off a 85hp Massey and it was very slow. It depends on the flow of the pump. Most splitters with there own power plants have pumps that put out at least 11 gal per minute, and 13 is even better.

I don't have the figures with me but I doubt that the pump on your Ck20 has that capacity.

If you know the GPM and PSI specs of your machine, and know the size of the cylinder on the splitter, you can determine the speed and force beforehand with this Calculator.

I use a T.S.C. 3Ph. splitter with My Mahindra 2810. I have qc couplings that I plug into the FEL controls and I use a Bungee cord to hold lever down. I run the engine about 1200 to 1400 rpms. The splitter works as fast as I can and splits every thing I put on It.

Assuming the ram you choose is the standard 4"-5" ram, it will move very slowly compared to a stand alone unit. Stand alones are 11, 13, and 16 gpm typically. Your tractor will have a rated gpm from the hydro pump but you'll need to run at PTO speeds to get it.

A PTO mounted hydro pump is a great option since you can spin it fast enough for high flow and you can set the psi to be much higher than the tractor but standard for the ram. Trouble is, these pumps are very expensive, you'll be out 500$ to get this working on your machine and then you'll need to also invest in a hydro fluid sump on the splitter.

Buy a stand alone for 1000$ and call it good. Load the tractor bucket as you split.

CK20 is rated at Total Pump Flow 7.66 gpm (29 Lpm), so if a stand alone is say rated at 13 GPS your little more than half of that, and if time for full stroke is say 10 seconds you should be around 25 still better than by hand with a spliting maul, as long as price is right its a good choice, but spitters stand alone gas, have really come down in price, where as tractor implaments seem to either be going up or holding their own. so could be less expensive to buy a stand alone, but when motor dies you could convert it 4-5 years down the road.

I agree with the post advocating a stand alone splitter and using the loader to haul the wood. I have a CK20 and have a set of forks for the loader. The forks work good to pick up and move the logs and hold them up while sawing to length by the splitter. Then use pallet on forks parked by the splitter to put the wood on after split and haul to the pile by the house. The bucket also works good to haul the split wood if you have no need to pick up the logs. I bought a good gas splitter last year for $1000 new.

Got my gas splitter before I got my CK35 so have not looked into a 3 pt one. I did get a backhoe with my CK35 as my splitter has a "table" to put the rounds on, I just can't lift the big rounds anymore. By having a separate splitter it does leave the tractor available for other uses.
I know this is not the answer to your original question but this may give you other ideas.

I ran my splitter of my ck 30 for a while.I split a lot of wood and the main problem was I did not like racking up the hours on the tractor. As for performance it worked fine and did't have any problems . I finally changed and installed a 8 hp B/S and did't find any change in performance.:)
