Looking at purchasing the RK24 to replace an old 9n been using for last 30 years to pull a six foot finishing mower to mow the lawn and associated areas I keep trimmed (about 3.5 acres). Does anyone have experience using the RK24 to run a 6 foot finishing mower? If so does it do the job alright? Not talking about bush hogging, just cutting yard grass. I know the 5 foot finish mower is what is recommended but I suspect it would handle the six foot and the three point would be able to handle the weight (about 500 - 600 pound I believe on most 6' finish mowers). Surely there's enough RK24's out there someone has tried it.

I use a 6' finish mower on my LS mt125. (24.7hp, 17 pto ho). Works fine. Damp / wet grass boggs it a little, just go slower.

Shouldn't be a problem. If you run into thicker or wetter grass just go slower or cut with some overlap.

I used an 8N and a 6 ft finish mower for about 20 years too. The RK24 will handle it just fine. I ran the 8N in second or third gear most of the time. The hydrostat High range won't keep up with the 8N as far as mowing ground speed. If you have a lot of maneuvering around trees and landscape you can't beat the hydrostat tranny though.
