Will Massey fill the gap?

It is interesting to note that with the demise of the 1523, Massey has a fairly big gap in the lineup. They have the SCUT GC and the next model up is the 1528. At 2400lbs the 1528 seems to be similar to a Kubota L series.

It seems Massey has nothing in their line to match the B series or the JD twenty series.

It would be interesting to see Massey enter this market.

Any thoughts?

I couldn't agree more. That's the size I wanted when I was looking for a tractor. No one wanted to even talk to me about a 1523. I couldn't find that model when I was buying. Went with a GC2300. For me the jump to the 1528 was too much. I wish someone would come out with a modern version of the old JD 955. A 33 HP tractor, wide stance and under 2,000 #. And no, I don't care to hear the more weight is always better argument, thanks

thats a size that CNH has struggled with too. Kubota prices the B's very aggressivly and it seems that some companies are having a hard time hitting the price points.

I agree it is interesting MF seems either unwilling or unable to enter this market when they have such a strong (perhaps the strongest) product in the SCUT market with the GC.

One would think they could update their current lineup by dropping the entire 1500 series, introducing a new line of perhaps 3-4 models to compete with the kubota B series. They could call this new line the G series. It could run between 23-30hp with and weigh in the 1700lb to 1800 lb range. They could be slightly larger and greater capacity than the B series and priced slightly higher than the B series. This new G series could share the styling of GC and 2600, have three range trannies and a loader capacity around 1100lbs at the pins.

Then add perhaps two models to the bottom of the 2600 line in the 2600lb range to bridge the gap between the current 1635 and this new G series.

Sounds like a plan, no?

MF sells so many GC series, and very FEW 1523, that is why they were discontinued, and probably why they are not really chasing that gap in the line up. Who knows, maybe in the future.

The 1523 is a GC2300 with different skin.

Massey 1523 (gear trans.& fluid-loaded tires) can pull 2 bottom plow. Not sure if it's 2 x 12" or 2 x 14"? Went originally behind an old Ford 8n.

Do you have gear or hydro units left? Also, I noticed MF didn't list many attachments that were compatible with the 1523. I assume they take the '60mower from the smaller GC, same for the loader? How about any other attachments, plows, blowers, etc?

Anyone??? Buler, Buler. No wonder MF didn't sell many of these. No one even wants to talk about them...
