Well, the day finally came. I am a father!
The baby came 17 days early! I was putting up a deer climber yesterday when my cell rang. It was my wife calling to say her water broke.
I scrambled back to the house and off to the hospital we went. My little girl came yesterday evening, weighed in at a whopping 6 -1/4 pounds and was 19-1/4 inches long. Everything accounted for, uneventful delivery, with her and Mom doing great!!! I had to come home and re-supply...
I just wanted to let everyone know. I'll post a pic later.

Congrats, Proud Dad! Welcome to the world of sleepless nights!! Now, if you are as lucky as me your daughter will require bottles heated to +/- 2 degrees of her body temperature, not be quiet without a nook, sleep only if swaddled straight-jacket style (no kidding), poop 30 seconds after her diaper is changed.....
Best of luck! I wouldn't trade any of my three curtain climbers for anything. Say congrats to Mom, too.

Lots of good advice already given.
My 2 cents.
Your daughter should always know that she is a special, wonderful person with unlimited potential. Self esteem is the most important factor in determining the quality of your child's life. You cannot guide and protect your child 24hrs a day but a child who feels good about themselves will be confident and not easily influenced in a negative way. She will have the confidence to make good decisions in any situation.
I have coached little league since the 80s. Dads who think their kids are the greatest can be challenging to me as a coach, but I would rather see that than see the kid who's dad makes him feel that he is not good enough.

Thanks guys! I'm in awe, both from the amazement of my little girl and of being a father! A special thanks to all those who gave advice, I'll try and revisit this thread when I need backup.
