The Cub Cadet 149 probably weighs about 600-700 lbs. No way it's going to move a round bale without tearing up the tractor or hurting the operator.
It is considered by some Cub Collectors as the best evolved design in the Cub Cadet line because it still had the open engine mounting, yet had the most advanced hydraulics and other features before International Harvester started making the "Quiet Line" series (eg 1200, 1400, 1600) that had the side panels over the engine to quieten them down. The 149 still had solid engine mounts that give no trouble unlike the rubber engine mounts that fail on the Quiet Line series.
If its in good shape, you've been given a great gift.
