Mowing will a 72 mid mount mower fit the 4100

Hi guys, I am brand new here. I just bought a 2000 4100HSt from Craigslist. Came with a 72" mower on a pallet along with blades, pwr broom etc..when i went to install the mower, I found there were zero hangers, or brackets under my tractor. The local dealer seemed to be totally without answers on how to solve this issue. Any help will be appreciated. I have 3 acres that is getting taller by the day and i am bummed out that what i bought is not ready to rock the field

That really sucks when you make a purchase that doesn't work out.
I'm sure 4100 owners will chime in as to if the MMM will even fit under your tractor. I don't think it will, but I have no experience with that little Deere.
Can the seller help you out? I assume he bought the mower...

However, the 4100 has 16 PTO HP, so you'd probably be better off with a 60" mower anyway...and I suggest you consider a rear finishing mower (you are mowing lawn, right? MMMs and RFMs are not for field use...you'll tear them up).

Kenny is right. That 58 inch wheelbase can not provide sufficient clearance between the tires to properly fit a 72 inch deck.

The field I need to get under control is smooth..

The tractor was sold as including mower, broom etc..but nothing was mounted. I really needed a loader to landscape our new property, and a strong mower for the rear as my 42 Craftsman lawn tractor would simply get killed out there.

I hope the 4100 will end up being a good machine. Do you think there is any trade in value on the 72 towards a 60?.would that be at a dealer or private..

Any advice would be appreciated!


PS.... The 4100 has NO brackets under it. what do I need to hang even the 60" deck? woudl these come with the new deck, or do I need to buy an install kit? how is the deck lowered and lifted with the 4100?

The install kit is always extra. One mower deck may fit several different model tractors but require a different kit for each one. The typical lift method is either by the using the three point hitch lift control linkage or a separate optional hydraulic cylinder controlled with the loader joystick.

There are several things needed to make it work, and when new it all cost a little under $3000 for everything including the deck. The 72" deck might be worth $1000, but if you don't have the parts to attach it and don't know what it fit's then it would be a tough sale. It is lifted from the 3PH lower arms.

Below are pictures of the hardware to mount a 60" on a 4100.

I might suggest you look for a 5' RFM (rear finish mower) so you can get mowing ASAP.

I have found a deck 4110/15 from a 2006 4115. Would you happen to know if this would fit on the 4100?

As long as it's not a 72" deck then yes. Some hardware is different though.

You can always just switch to a 3point finish mower to solve the issue.
