Then use finished ethernet cables to whatever you want. Easy to work with, cheap and available at almost all Home Depot Stores

The Mrs. and I don't have all the expertise that most have replying here.

We had to settle for 2 of these:

One is POE from our base unit to the roof of our home as a bridge.

Second is inside the barn, {Steel Roof}within eyesight of the bridge, as an access point.

We've tired over time of keeping up with the latest technology on the bleeding edge
but were quite pleased when everyone went cell/wifi.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with the wi-fi solutions presented here also. But if you could use the already in place cable with $5 of ethernet jacks and a couple of patch cords and an old wifi router he already has, then he has service for about $5 and a little work. I would probably go the "cheap" route first if possible, then explore more the more expensive wi-fi solutions if needed.

I am glad to learn of this product. I have wanted to rig up some wifi cameras on my property and this looks like it would solve the range problem.

It's not cat5 cable. Here's a better look. Will it work? Gunny I like your little thingy from home depot.

If it's not cat5 then I'd be dubious. Are the pairs twisted at all? If not then there's a good chance to cross-talk and other stuff that'll hurt the effective range.

So grab a couple screw or punch to rj45 boxes and try it. You'll be out 10 bucks if it doesn't work. If the are not twisted pairs it doesn't bode well but I'd try before spending $100 on other solutions but I'm a cheapskate.
