When i first purchased my brand new 1994 dodge diesel my wife was driving it to home depot with me following in my f150 to get supplies. I parked and was walking up to her while she was backing into a parking spot. She decided to wave to me while backing up. She hit a tree and crushed rear bumper.
Truck was maybe 4 weeks old.
I think all the color drained from my face.
I didnt want to file an insurance claim so we just paid for a new bumper out of our own funds.
Jump ahead a few months, were driving from calif to our new home in idaho. Im hauling the horse trailer and wife is driving the dodge towing 2 jet skis. She does a great job. Gets all the way to the house, and decides to back the jet skis up to my shop. Crunch.
She crunches the bumper in nearly the same spot with the storage box on the trailer. Her excuse, she couldnt see the trailer in the mirrors, so she kept backing up until she could see something. You cant make this up.
Another new bumper.
A few months later, shes stopped at a light and someone bumped into her truck. They crumpled the bumper in nearly the same spot. Oh come on. At that point, i left the bumper with the damage. I figured it was meant to be. It stayed that way for 30 years.
When I sold the truck, damage was still there.
