I don't own a TC45 but I am a salesman. I noticed on a new one w/hydro there is a odd noise coming from the left side(if your sitting in the seat) it's like a scraping noise and when you put up the rpm's it gets louder and faster.

I sold a customer a used TC45 w/hydro with only 140 hours on it and it makes the same noise. Is this a problem I should inform them of, or is it just how this tractor is? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Two things come to mind. I'm assuming you are talking about a tractor that's not moving, in neutral and the noise is there. If so:

1. The hydrostatic filter and bypass valve makes noise. Sometimes it's a clicking noise as the ball checkvalve on top of the filter makes a little noise, but there is also some noise of the fluid, especially when the tractor is cold.

2. Early tractors had a problem with the fan scraping on the fan shroud. That might be something to check.

If the tractor is moving instead of being in neutral, I'd look for the brakes to be adjusted a little tight. Especially on new tractors, the brakes do squawk until they become broke in. It's very disconcerting to hear them. If they were adjusted a little tight, they might rub without the pedals being depressed.

Other than those issues and the normal hydro whine, I can't think of anything that would make the sound you are describing, especially if it's internal. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It sounds like the fan scrapping the shroud, but we checked that and it wasn't it. Maybe it's one of the other things you described. I will have to let the customer know. Thanks.

It is hard to come up with a solution as we can't hear what you hear. A "scraping sound" can have a lot of different noises. Does it sound like metal on metal? Does the noise come from the engine compartment or somewheres underneath the tractor? Can you discribe it any better?
I had one of my hydraulic pipes underneath the floorboard (around the gas pedal area) baerly touch, thus making interesting vibrating /scraping sound varying with the engine speed. Solution was to bend the hydralic pipe a little further away from the floorboard and I am havin no noises since. I am hoping that this gives you a better idea.
