For 27 years I used a five foot PTO driven blower on a smaller tractor - Ford 1700 4WD. Now with a larger tractor I use an 8 foot really HD rear blade. When I angle the rear blade - I loose cutting width. It would take a 9 foot or larger rear blade to completely cover my rear tire width. Rear tire width - 80 inches.
Why the rear blade. It's a WHOLE LOT faster than a PTO driven blower. My driveway is a mile long. Plus my yard and mail box area. With the blower - 4 hours. With the rear blade - 1.5 hours.
Plus - with the rear blade I don't have to drive in reverse and keep looking over my shoulder.
The larger tractor and HD rear blade allows me to "push back" any berms that may form on the driveway.
