Widows in the woodpile

Mike -- I've heard of folks using mothballs around the woodpile in the warmer months to keep them from setting up shop in the first place...but my wife had a great idea. Why not contact your local/regional university ag extension? Surely the question has come up before.

But Dave, we'll have to run a double-blind at least. Could you please get yourself cloned and have your clone bitten in the same place? Then please clone your living conditions except for the big tower across the road, and have your clone live there. Then, let's see now....

Two of me...now there's a thought. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif A scary thought, but a thought none the less. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I live in MD and have also seen many black widows this year. Mostly on Beech wood. I usually find them in groups 8-10 at a time. Some of the sprays I have looked at say not to burn the wood for a while after you spray. I kind of like the tarp idea.

The only think I would add here is if you choose to "bomb" the spiders, to use plastic to "tent" the wood rather than tarps. Tarps are generally made of woven material and have the ability to "breath." which is exactly what you don't want.
