Why some people are too stupid to own a car

My issue with TPMS sensors is... Eventually the batteries in them poop out and the sensors must be replaced and reprogrammed and they aren't cheap either. If I could, I'd remove them entirely, perfectly capable of checking tire pressure. Problem is, you defeat or remove them, you wind up with an illuminated idiot light in the instrument cluster.

I look ate TPMS sensors as well as seat belt warnings as protecting yourself from yourself or for idiots that have no business driving a vehicle anyway.

Just replaced 2 on the wife's Suburban and one on my Focus and I paid 50 bucks each for them to extinguish the idiot light, not including the tire dismount and remount and the reprogram as well.

Funny conspiracy theory of mine when tpms became mandated for passenger cars gas stations started charging for air lol
These gauges may soon end up like phone booths and newspapers.

But not all do it with a transmitter. My wife's Jetta does the tire pressure monitoring by calculating the difference in the rotation of each tire and deducing which tire is low.
I don't know about that as there are no foreign cars here. In fact driving anything but a domestic vehicle here (Michigan) brands you as a wierdo.

It my understanding that Ford Explorers were what mandated TPMS on cars. Ford had a little bit lower tire pressure on them for ride quality and then people let them get to low, then roll overs. I think Ford pointed the finger at the tire maker also.

In Canada a US built vehicle is a foreign vehicle so no problems driving what ever you want.

My priority's for cars are a comfortable ride and excellent fuel mileage. A standard transmission is also a big +. VW's and Dodges deliver.

The local NAPA tells me that the most popular vehicles around here are F-150's and TDI Jettas. I live in a very rural community and vehicle mileage is a concern.
