why do you own a tractor? how does it save you $$

Just as the title says. My friends at work are telling me I should sell my tractors because I would have lots of money. I have used tractors/ pay loaders and my pickup truck to accomplish everything !!!
Examples

* plowing snow.... much cheaper than paying someone
*pull stuck vehicles. The large tired get great grip and great traction in mud or deep snow
*everything to do with firewood
*home and yard repairs
*driveway repairs
*lift engines
*remove post/poles from ground with use of hydraulics

I have 3 machines that I would not go without . 1970 300B backhoe , 195? international 240 utility , 2008 mahindra 3215 with loader , removable backhoe.
*mowing
*tilling the garden
*maintain the gravel driveway
*snowplow ( snow removal )
*clean the drainage ditch
*pull out stuck vehicle from time to time
*Side work for toy money
*lift anything my back doesn't care to HAHA
*The most important reason - Its way cheaper then a psychiatrist I,m the happiest guy in town when I,m playing on the tractors

What would the cost be for an ER visit for an acute back injury. Easily 5k. I do the diagnostic imaging and those costs alone are not cheap. That is why I own an ag tractor with the equipment to keep me out of ER.

The Mahindra does the work around the old homestead. The others are being preserved in well-deserved retirement and are being kept from the scrap heap.

For me, it's not really about saving money. My "toys" allow me to do certain things - clear all manner of rock and tree debris for example. If I didn't have the equipment, I imagine most of the work I've done on my property would just still be there.

I don't listen to my friends much anyways but if I had yours wouldn't at all,sounds like something a city boy would say. I have a couple that couldn't name two brands of tractor but they know not to try and tell me what i do and don't need at my farm. They still drive a 4x4,diesel 3/4ton with wheels and tires but don't ever drag a trailer type, i don't hate cause they do look cool. If one has a riding mower/0-turn, tell them they don't need it save money,see how they take it.

I vote to keep the friends but rub it in each time they whine about a sore back from doing things the hard way or have to pay someone to do something you can do yourself.

Oh... And don't loan them your equipment or operate it for their benefit.
