Why do people not want to work?

Not only is there no one to that wants to work, but the ones that are working or looking for work want six figures to start !

Auto Repair = $110/hour
Plumbers = $125/hour
Painters = some have great rates, some just want $100/hour and walk away without finishing the job.

I had a Welder/Fabricator, build me some Railings, when he wen to install them the Powder Coating was rough as in Welding Slag Rough. He blamed it on the Powder Coating Company and offered to fix it on site. I agreed, he came back once and never showed again. He also never got paid for the 50% I still owed him.

I was told by my Economics 101, Professor, that people on welfare don't want to be there... I call BS !

Most people on Welfare want to be on it and don't want to work, some are there because their family has been on it too long and that is all they know, but IMHO... a lot of them are Free Loaders... PERIOD !
The worse part is, that it is becoming the way of life for so many and one side of the government is supporting it as a way to gain votes.

The biggest problem that will come soon enough, is a complete collapse of the economic system in the US, that is If we don't start tightening up the ship !

We should erase all of the Welfare Records, let everyone start over, if you haven't paid into the system you get nothing out.

So consensus seem to be...we should stop enabling people to be on government cheese. Force them to be productive.

Maybe we need welfare reform again and only give welfare to parents with children. Also make welfare only available for 6 months if a person suffers a life changing event.

That only compares marriages to divorce; how many parents do you know who have never been married yet have had kids with 2, 3, or more different partners?

Welfare changed from a safety net that no one wanted to be on to an entitlement that can vote.

There seem to be plenty of people who just don't get what work is, or how to learn. My mom closed her bookstore years ago because she ended up working 7 days a week. The applicants who were clean and presentable had no idea how to find things in alphabetical order, how to do simple addition (or subtraction) with a calculator, let alone in their head.
I'm not sure how these people live day to day and keep track of their own money, fill out simple forms and such. It scares me that they drive, vote and have kids they're responsible for.
What did any of them do in school ?

One effective way to reduce people on welfare is to make schools better, more help for those that struggle to learn, you could demand that people on wellfare go to courses to improve basic skills, controlling the money flow is a powerful instrument to make people improve them selves.

It's better to keep a separate address from your old lady, you work, and she stays home with your kids. Then she's bringing in $34K in benefits plus your $34K a year salary, and just like that, you're making $68K per year, your woman is home with the kids, dinner's on the table and life's good.

Works the same way here. The woman (baby producer) stays in the government apt. gets a check for all (insert number) rug rats.
Her and her man will never marry, for if they do, she will lose many of their government benefits.
So, they just stay together. he works (as you said) gets paid XXX, she stays home gets paid XXX in our tax dollars.
Life is good.

I sold my business 4-5 yrs ago and gave it up.
I still have friends in the Plumbing /HVAC business always calling asking if I know anyone willing to work. No experience necessary.

I think today, for most cases, if someone isn't working it's because:
A. They don't want to work.
B. They are unemployable.

In the case of B, that can mean many things like physical/mental reasons, criminal record, etc..., yet unemployable still applies. The reasons are many. Many times it's not any fault of theirs. And sometimes, even after someone pays their debt to society, employers don't want to take a risk. Again, many reasons.

In the case of A, I know people that don't want to work for various reasons. Many of them don't want to take a job that pays less than their last job. Many of them are riding out unemployment until it ends. Some just stopped and lived off of their spouse's income. Lots of reasons, but it is their choice not to work. They could get a job easily if they wanted to. It might not be the ideal job for them, but jobs are out there.
